Maybe WWE is having second thoughts?
Roman Reigns was written off television last week on Raw when he was brutally destroyed backstage by Braun Strowman, ultimately ending in Strowman flipping over an Ambulance with Reigns inside. While some believe this is being done to help build up suspense for Reign’s eventual return at the upcoming pay back pay per view, it is now making the rounds that Vince McMahon made the decision to take Reigns off of television and it wasn’t to help build him up as a babyface. In fact, its said to have a lot more to do with the heat Reigns got after retiring The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.
With that being said, it is now believed that Reigns being written off television last week in order for some of the heat to die down on Roman Reigns after retiring The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. Unfortunately, it is also being reported that the match between Taker and Reigns didn’t work out the way he wanted it too and originally thought that Reigns beating The Undertaker would get fans behind him and support him on to the title picture as the top star on Monday Night Raw.
When it didn’t work out that way and Vince McMahon saw the reaction that Reigns got after the match, he decided it would be best to keep Reigns off television for awhile and planned a storyline for Strowman to attack him in order to build up sympathy. That doesn’t seem to be working either, as Strowman is coming across more as a face after beating up Roman Reigns then ever before. He even earned a yes chant from The WWE Universe on Raw this week after driving Big Show through the ring in the closing segments of the match. The ring ultimately collapsed, making the match ending a draw.
