What a long strange road its been.
While its impossible to say that Goldust’s second run in the WWE was nothing short of awesome, especially since it begun with him winning the tag team championship alongside his brother, Cody Rhodes a couple of years ago, its also impossible to say that WWE is running out of options when it come sto the bizarre one. Of course WWE has tried to give Goldust a solo run after his breakup with R Truth, but according to Dave Meltzer, that turned out to be a flop and WWE is looking to put the former champion in other roles.
The belief apparently is that his storyline with R Truth didn’t impress WWE brass at all and they now want to take him out of his mid card spot and give it to someone else. Furthermore, WWE is now planning for Goldust to take on some kind of Manager role like with what Titus O’Neil did with Titus Worldwide. Its not known yet who the lucky superstar will be that gets to study under the tutelage of one of the most bizarre and entertaining superstars of all time, but expect it to either be someone in the midcard or even a tag team if the situation calls for it.
The change is believed to start at Summerslam, where Goldust will be scouting new talent to take under his wing. One thought would be Elias Sampson, who has been a bit of a flop lately himself after his mini feud with Finn Balor, but he could also end up mentoring Jason Jordan, especially since he has virtually gone no where since being named Kurt Angle’s illegitimate son only a few weeks ago.
What are your thoughts? Does this mean Goldust is done inside the ring? What qualities does he bring to a manager role? Let us know in the comments below!
