Reason why John Cena was added to title match at Fastlane
John Cena finally has a road to WrestleMania.
Sure, its not a straight shot and will require the 16 time World Champion to take on five other competitors in order to earn The WWE title and a shot at headlining WrestleMania 34, but he at least now has one more shot to officially make it onto the pay per view card. Whether Cena is actually able to do that or not is up to WWE, but one has to wonder why they would even put Cena into the match if they are already so sold on Nakamura versus Styles at Mania.
With that being said and most of The WWE Universe seemingly dead set on Nakamura versus Styles headlining WrestleMania, one also has to wonder why they would put Cena in another match if it just results in him coming up short one more time. In fact, coming up short is something that Cena has managed to do a lot lately, which is slowly chipping away at his believably as top superstar.
Not only did Cena get eliminated from The Royal Rumble match back in January, he followed that up with a loss to Elias on Raw and then a loss at The Elimination Chamber one month later. In the end, it appears that WWE is doing this to help create more unpredictability within the main title picture and are using John Cena to help create that feel for the Fastlane pay per view.
Unfortunately for the former champion, that is most likely going to involve another loss, especially since WWE would be down right dumb to miss out on Nakamura versus Styles, and that means Cena will once again be without an opponent for Mania. In the end, maybe WWE can transition that into Undertaker versus Cena, but its not looking good after Cena downright said the match couldn’t happen on Monday Night.
